Brian Todd


Brian was born in 1932 in London.

He joined the RAF , in 1950, aged 18 after a Grammar School education. By 1959 Brian was a QFI based at Linton-on-Ouse teaching mostly Navy pilots. He was a member of the 1959 & 1960 Linton based Vampire aerobatic teams. At this stage he was a Sergeant Pilot.

Some time after this Brian re-trained for the Javelin & served tours in Norfolk, Cyprus ( 29 Sqn ) & Borneo ( 60 Sqn ) , by now Brian was a Flying Officer.

After completing his Borneo tour in 1966, Brian came back to teach at Linton again, this time flying the Jet Provost. By 1967 Brian was flying aerobatics again in the GIN Formation team. After the 1968 #4 was posted away at short notice, Brian stepped in & flew the last 2 shows in 1968.

Later in his RAF Career Brian went on to instruct on the Gnat , at RAF Valley, in the mid 70's & was instructing on the simulator at RAF Valley & Oxford the 80's.

He retired from the RAF at the rank of Flight Leutenant.

Married to Dorothy, they never had children.

Brian sadly passed away in May 2011. Dorothy passed away a few years earlier.
